Meet Aunt Karen – Creator of Knitable’s Learn to Knit Kits
“I’d like to teach the world to knit…in color harmony!”
I taught myself to crochet out of my set of encyclopedias when I was quite young. I thought knitting would be next; however, I found that to be impossible to learn from a book! (and I am very good at learning from books) It turned out that I was in my late 40s before I learned to knit. One of my BFFs talked me into taking a class with her at a craft store. We started with cotton dishcloths.
It was so hard! I usually learn new skills easily. I struggled so much with knitting that my children laughed at me and with me as my hands contorted into weird positions trying to get that yarn to behave.
I still don’t know everything there is to know about knitting. Yet I have gotten good at helping others start on their knitting journeys.
These Learn to Knit kits are the culmination of years of trying different combinations. When my 8 year old granddaughter learned to knit in a single afternoon with large bamboo needles and t-shirt yarn, I was inspired to offer these lessons to a larger audience.
May you be blessed with years of the joy of knitting.
